Bill McEwan, External Director

Bill was re-elected to the Agrifoods board in 2021 and is currently the Chair of the Human Resources Committee and is a member of the Investment Committee. As an external Director he brings over 40 years of experience in the Retail Food and CPG industries, with a focus on leadership, strategic positioning, planning and execution and business transformation. Bill is the former CEO & President of Sobeys Inc and past President of A&P Canada and, subsequently, A&P U.S.A. Bill also held senior marketing and sales roles with Coca-Cola Ltd. & Coca-Cola Bottling. A native of Trail, B.C., Bill began his career with Ferraros Ltd., Super Valu Stores.

As an accomplished CEO and past Chair of the Board/Chair of the Human Resources Committee for Aimia, Bill is currently Vice Chair of the Supervisory Board of Directors of Ahold Delhaize Group, as well as the Chair of the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Sustainability & Innovation Committee. He is also a Board Director, Chair of the Governance Committee, and member of the Independent Committee of Interac Corp.

Bill has received several awards, including the “Lifetime Achievement Award” (2012) by the Retail Council of Canada, the Robert Boudrais Award (2007) for industry leadership, and the “Golden Pencil Award” (2005) by the Canadian Retail Food Industry.
