D. R. Vaandrager, Director

D.R. has been an Agrifoods Delegate for over 10 years and has served as a Director since 2017. He is also actively involved in Governance & Member Committee, as well as the Investment Committee, and provides valuable input to the board.

As a proud to be a third-generation farmer in Abbotsford, British Columbia, D.R. earned his Master Breeder Designation in 2020. He enjoys working on the farm with his family as they all pitch in to take care of 140 cows. Their focus is on providing the best care for their animals and their land, while being able to provide good, healthy food for people. As part of this, they have been using milking robots since 2008 and feeding robots since 2015. The precision and consistency of the robots offers many health benefits to the cows and provides data reports for the farmers so they can recognize early signs of health issues.

Farming aside, D.R.’s secret talent is woodworking. He takes great pleasure in building furniture and undertaking a variety of home renovation projects. You can also find him relaxing with family and friends, getting involved with the church, or enjoying the outdoors camping and quadding. His future aspirations include doing relief work in disaster/underprivileged areas once he retires.
